Tasha Alexis, MD,MHA

Tasha Alexis, MD, MHA, entered the Florida Department of Health Preventive Medicine and Public Health Residency Program on July 1, 2018. Prior to her arrival, Dr. Alexis completed a one-year training in OBGYN at the Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Wisconsin in 2013. She also completed her Masters in Health Administration (MHA) at the George Washington University in 2018. Dr. Alexis played an integral role in the COVID-19 pandemic response. She was involved in data acquisition and data analysis of COVID-19 clients, COVID-19 preparedness assessment of long-term care facilities, and creating epidemiologic curves of COVID-19 outbreaks at long-term care facilities. Her research project was a descriptive analysis of the positive COVID-19 clients in Palm Beach County. Dr. Alexis did her quality improvement project on enhancing diabetic patient compliance using motivational interviewing. She also participated in an emergency preparedness improvement project concerning a closed POD at the Department of Health in Palm Beach County.

At the Veteran Affairs Hospital in West Palm Beach, Tasha worked on a value stream quality improvement project to improve patient wait times in the Emergency Department. In addition, she started a committee for adverse event root cause analysis for patient safety. She also implemented a training program to educate employees on how to report adverse events. Dr. Alexis certified as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Tasha came to SLVH as an occupational physician because of her passion for rural medicine.

Dr. Alexis is an FAA Designee and offers Class 2 and 3 flight physicals.

Tasha is married and has two dogs. She enjoys dance, hiking, and reading.
