Dennard Ellison, MD
Dennard Ellison, MD, joined the ENT Clinic at San Luis Valley Health in 2010. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. He went on to graduate from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1986, followed by a residency in general surgery at Shands Teaching Hospital in Gainesville, FL., and a residency in otolaryngology at Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. He was a staff otolaryngologist at the University of California San Diego Medical Center and San Diego VA Medical Center. Prior to coming to SLV Health, Dr. Ellison had been with Presbyterian Hospital's Multi-Specialty Group Otolaryngology in Albuquerque, NM, since 2002.
"ENT is a diverse medical specialty that allows me to treat many interesting and complex diseases of the head and neck region in all age groups," he says. "I have a particular interest and training in the treatment of nasal and sinus disorders including allergy."
Dr. Ellison is a pioneer in performing Balloon Sinuplasty, a procedure that opens the blocked sinus ostium to treat sufferers of sinusitis. While several colleagues from surrounding areas in the state have recently began practicing the procedure, Ellison has performed numerous successful operations since 2006.
Dr. Ellison serves as a trustee on San Luis Valley Health's Board. Outside of work, Dr. Ellison often treks to Colorado Springs to spend time with his wife Paula and three daughters, Lauren, Tamia, and Alexis.
