Jason Defee, MD
Jason Defee, MD, is a valued member of the SLV Health Orthopedic Team and is currently in his 10th year at San Luis Valley Health. Dr. Defee is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a total of 23 years of experience, practicing previously in San Angelo, Texas.
Dr. Defee began his academic journey at Galveston College before earning a degree in Business Administration/Management from Baylor University, where he was a three‑sport Letterman athlete. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at McGovern Medical School at UT Health Houston.
Throughout his career, Dr. Defee has contributed his expertise on numerous advisory boards and committees and has served as an adjunct professor at Angelo State University. His clinical specialties and professional interest include computer assisted joint replacement (shoulders, hips, and knees), sports related injuries (including ligament injuries), and work-related injuries (including hand injuries). He also brings extensive experience as a team physician for college and high school athletic programs and has served as a consultant for Stelkast, Inc.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Defee enjoys snowboarding and watching car racing. His wife is an operating room nurse at SLV Health, and together they are raising their two children. As a family, they enjoy traveling and are active in their local church.
