Feeding the Frontline

SLV Health staff take a moment to pose with Jade Communication and Sunflour Café staff on Saturday, April 4. The hospital staff were surprised with free lunches as an appreciation of thanks from Jade Communications and SLV Health Leadership.

The staff of the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center and Conejos County Hospital were pleasantly surprised on Saturday, April 4, when they were presented with lunches prepared by Sunflour Café, a family-owned restaurant in Monte Vista.

“This was an amazing collaboration of local businesses coming together to recognize all the hard work our employees do here in the San Luis Valley,” said Kelly Gurule, SLV Health Foundation director. “The staff, at both SLV Health Regional Medical Center and Conejos County Hospital, truly appreciate all the work that went into this, and are thankful to be working with such supportive businesses.”

The meal donation was a way to say thank you to the hospital staff for all their hard work during this pandemic, and were provided by Jade Communications and SLV Health Leadership. The event was organized by Jade Communications, KSLV 96.5 the Fox, Sunflour Café and the San Luis Valley Health Foundation.

In addition to funding a portion of the meals, Jade Communications staff also provided T-shirts and hand-written thank you notes.

“We at Jade Communications remain committed to help other essential services succeed,” said Jordan Wehe, director of marketing at Jade Communications. “Additionally, supporting local restaurants during this time is a top priority. A locally owned business supporting another locally owned business not only shows support and camaraderie, but also compassion, empathy and grace during this time of uncertainty.”
