Annual Stephanie L. Miner Walk Raises Money for SLVH Pharmacy

The 2021 Stephanie L. Miner Walk/Run raised over $15,000 to expand San Luis Valley Health’s pharmacy to provide more comprehensive services to cancer patients.

At the race, over 200 participants enjoyed a beautiful, fall day in the sunshine! The day began around 6:30 a.m. with ASU Wrestling and Track & Field teams, along with volunteers from SLV Health who blew up hundreds of balloons to form the colossal, pink arch for the beginning of the race. They also created several, colorful finish line arches. The theme this year for the event was “Game On! The Cure.” There were large yard games situated throughout the park for participants to play. Snack bags were handed out at the end of the walk/run to everyone’s delight.

The beautiful Stephanie L. Miner quilt made by Bev Hettinger, was created from prior years’ Stephanie L. Miner T-shirts. It was auctioned off before the walk/run. Angela and Carmelo Hernandez were the lucky winners and out-bid the other enthusiasts! All proceeds support the enhancement of the SLV Health Pharmacy, which will aid the cancer center patients.

Eagle Air landed their helicopter at Cole Park early that morning, and all who attended the race had the opportunity to see the expanded emergency services offered by SLV Health.

The SLV Health Foundation, wishes to sincerely thank each individual who participated and for the generous sponsors who supported the Stephanie L. Miner Walk/Run: Innova, Shultz Realty, San Luis Valley Federal Bank, RG Bank, 1st Southwest Bank, Alamosa State Bank, SLV Health, Eagle Air Med, REC Ciello, Valley-Wide, Radiology and Imaging Consultants, Extreme Graphics, City Market, Wall, Smith, Bateman & Associates Inc., San Luis Valley Behavioral Health Group, and ACE Hardware of Alamosa.
