CCH Triumphs in Triennial Trauma Certification Review!

Hold on to your stethoscopes —our Level 4 Trauma Center at Conejos County Hospital has just aced its triennial trauma certification review, and we couldn’t be prouder!

Every three years, our trauma program undergoes a comprehensive review by the state trauma regulatory body, examining everything from patient care protocols to staff training and community outreach. This process ensures that we’re not just meeting but exceeding the rigorous standards set for trauma centers at our level.

Under the skillful guidance of our Trauma Nurse Coordinator, Sarah Gilleland, the review team found us shining like a well-polished scalpel—no small feat! Sarah’s dedication, organization, and commitment to excellence were on full display, and the surveyors left thoroughly impressed by the quality of care and coordination we provide to trauma patients.

Sarah’s outstanding performance was built on a solid foundation of mentorship and guidance from Julie Ramsteter, our talented Trauma Nurse Coordinator at RMC. Julie’s expertise, support, and hands-on training prepared Sarah exceptionally well for her first trauma review on her own, ensuring she had the skills, confidence, and knowledge to lead the team through this rigorous process.

As a Level 4 Trauma Center, CCH is responsible for stabilizing and managing trauma patients, providing timely evaluation and treatment, and coordinating with higher-level centers when needed. We’re the community’s lifeline in emergencies, and this certification affirms that we’re up to the task—day or night.

This success is more than a piece of paper on the wall. It’s a testament to the teamwork, dedication, and unwavering commitment to patient care shown by every nurse, provider, technician, and support staff member who steps into our trauma rooms.

Let’s give Sarah a standing ovation and pat ourselves on the back—we passed with flying colors! Here’s to the next three years of excellence, compassion, and readiness to meet every challenge that comes our way.
