Svetlana Bresnitz, MD, FAAP, joined San Luis Valley Health in 2005. She came to the U.S. from Czechoslovakia in 1995 after graduating from the Komenius University School of Medicine. She did her pediatric training at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City and is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
She is committed to providing the most up-to-date pediatric care, emphasizes cost effectiveness while believing that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. She ensures coordination between primary and subspecialty care, makes herself available for same-day appointments, and strives for minimal wait times for preventive visits.
Her focus on prevention cannot be overstated. Dr. Bresnitz maintains her depth of knowledge and keeps her skills up to date by reading relevant pediatric journals monthly, engaging in ongoing study of the American Academy of Pediatrics curriculum, receiving comprehensive education, and actively participating in the rigorous maintenance of her board certification as prescribed by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Bresnitz enjoys diversity in her patients and has a special fondness for newborns. She encourages parents and patients, especially teens, to ask many questions.
