SLV Health
Dear Colleagues,
An organization’s most valued asset is their people….
This is especially true in a health organization such as SLV Health. We are the key to our own success, and knowing this pushes us to be better. As a leadership team, we are committed to being the best leaders possible. And we know our leadership abilities impact staff satisfaction and engagement. In this spirit, we have developed a leadership covenant expressing our commitment to our organization, each other, and our patients and communities.
Over the past six months, the Senior Team and Directors have developed the covenant into a final document. We began by defining accountability and then added tasks and behaviors that we believe represent the organization's values. This final document was affirmed by our leadership team and signed by each one of us. We will collectively hold each other to our commitments.
This covenant starts out “We, the leadership of San Luis Valley Health, commits to a culture that promotes accountability and gives members and organizational identity, facilitates collective commitment, promotes system stability and unity, shapes behavior and supports the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
It goes further by saying “We believe a strong foundation of accountability involves the obligation of an individual or organization to account for its activities, accept responsibility for them and to disclose the results in a transparent manner.” From there it details our values: Integrity, respect, commitment, learning, innovation, and joy, and details our goals in each one.
This, to me, was a big step for our organization and, in fact, was recognized by a renowned public speaker and expert on customer service as something unique and commendable for our organization to have created.
Now, the process continues. We must walk the talk and I know we will. San Luis Valley Health is committed to improving healthcare for the Valley. Every day we work to get better and make more of a difference to those we serve. I’m proud of our leadership in their commitment to excellence. I am proud of the service our team delivers every day. I know these efforts will help us provide better care for our patients and better work experience for our staff.
I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to all those who make a difference every day. We will continue to strive for excellence.
