Celebrating Veteran's Day with Our Veterans

Happy Veteran's Day from San Luis Valley Health!  We are thankful for all that are Veterans have done for us and remain committed to serving them as their Trusted Partner in Health.  

Today, we offer a special thank you to our providers and some of our staff that have served in the Armed Forces.  We are fortunate to have people like you and the skills you bring to our team.

Dr. Thom Miller, Pediatrics

Dr. Miller served in the US Navy from June 2007 to July 2014. He first completed his pediatric residency and then served as a general pediatrician. During his time he spent 7 months as the General Medical Officer aboard the USS TARAWA (LHA-1) and spent 3 months deployed on the USNS MERCY (TAH-19) hospital ship throughout Indonesia, The Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia.

Carmelo HernandezDr. Carmelo Hernandez, Women's Health

Dr. Hernandez served as a pilot in a KC-135 Stratotanker in the Air Force from May of 1985 to July of 1993. His mission was to refuel other airplanes midair.  When he finished flying, he served as an Aircraft Commander and was responsible for a crew of four. He has 1350 hours as a pilot in the Air Force.

Dr. David Geiger, General Surgery

Dr. Geiger was stationed on the United Navy Hospital in Naples, Italy from 1987 to 1989 and from 1989 to 1991 he was at UNH in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He had to leave North Carolina from December of 1990 to April of 1991 to serve in Operation Desert Storm in Kuwait, taking care of Marines.

Terry ReisnerDr. Terry Reisner, Family Medicine

Dr. Reisner was an active duty member of the USAF with 366 Med Group in Mt. Home, Idaho from 1988 to 1992 as a family physician. He cared for retirees along with active duty members and their families. He also worked with the Outdoor Adventure Program as a boatman.

Dr. Robert Marshall, General Surgery

Dr. Marshall served in the United States Air Force.

We would also like to thank our staff that are Veterans.

John Thompson

John Thompson, Director of Support Services, served in the Army in Vietnam.

Vee McAuliffe

Vee McAuliffe, Infusion Therapy Manager, served in the Army Nurse Corps for 13 years.

Jessica Sabia, Pharmacy Director, served for eight years in the Army National Guard.

Sheridan Moosman, Director of Cardiopulmonary Services, served in the Navy.

Billy Werner, Surgical Technician, served in the Army.

Jim Brown, Respiratory Therapist, served in the Marines.

Nicole Singer, Ward Clerk, serves in the Army National Guard.

Steven Mortensen, Respiratory Therapist, served in the Air Force.
