Four Finalists to Represent SLV Health at Nightingale Awards
Finalists
Julie Ramstetter is a Registered Nurse that works in San Luis Valley Health’s Emergency Department. Ramstetter serves as the Trauma Nurse Coordinator for San Luis Valley Health and was also recently named a Fire Starter Award recipient at the 2015 Wilz Trauma Symposium in Pueblo. Ramstetter has served San Luis Valley Health for over 19 years.
“I would like to congratulate all of the other Luminaries across the state,” said Ramstetter. “I think that all nurses strive to be the type of nurse that Florence Nightingale was, so being recognized for this event is a huge honor.”
Misty Palacios is a Registered Nurse that works in San Luis Valley Health’s Family Medicine Clinic. She joined San Luis Valley Health in 2011 and provides care for people of all ages.
“Being nominated to attend the 2015 Nightingale Luminary Awards is an honor,” said Palacios. “The values that the award stands for reflects exactly the type of nurse I want to be for my patients.”
Andrea Griego is a Registered Nurse that works in the Labor and Delivery Department at San Luis Valley Health. Griego came on board in 2001 and helps deliver and care for newborns from across the Valley.
"I was thrilled to be selected as a finalist for the Nightingale Awards in Denver," said Griego. "I would like to congratulate all nurses for the work that they do in serving our patients and community."
Ruth Archuleta is a Registered Nurse that works in the Medical Surgery Department. She joined San Luis Valley Health in 1984, contributing over 30 years of service to San Luis Valley Health and the San Luis Valley Community.
"I would like to congratulate all of the nurses in our community for the work they do every day," said Archuleta. "I also want to thank those that nominated me. This is a special honor."
About the Nightingale Awards
The Nightingale Awards event was founded in 1985 to honor nurses who best exemplify the philosophy and practice of Florence Nightingale, a 19th-century nursing pioneer who epitomized the art of helping people toward their optimal health.
Ruth Archuleta has contributed over 30 years of service to San Luis Valley Health.“We are beyond proud of the work that these individuals do on a daily basis,” said Patti Thompson, Chief Clinical Officer at San Luis Valley Health. "Their teamwork, dedication, and customer service, along with strong professionalism, embody the spirit of what San Luis Valley Health is all about.”
The four finalists from San Luis Valley Health were nominated by either their peers or supervisors or a combination of both and are recognized at a regional event, in which San Luis Valley Health had five participants. A Regional Selection Committee then selects finalists, called Luminaries. The State Selection Committee will now name the recipients of the Nightingale Award at its event in Denver.
