Patient Praises Emergency Department Team

Earlier this month, a patient was admitted to the San Luis Valley Health Emergency Department in Alamosa. Given the circumstances that usually accompany one’s visit to the Emergency Department, this can be an unpleasant experience.

This time, that was not the case.  The staff made sure the patient was comfortable and everything went smoothly, so much so that this particular patient had nothing but positive things to say about the experience.

"We are always happy to hear when patient's have positive experiences when receiving services at San Luis Valley Health," said Patti Thompson, Chief Clinical Officer at San Luis Valley Health.  "This is especially true in the Emergency Department, where patients are often coming to be treated for something immediately.  We are glad this patient had a positive experience and thank the outstanding team that serve our community everyday."

The patient’s praise was directed in particular to two employees, Selso Lopez, who works in Emergency Department Admissions and Brittany Lavery, who is a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department.  Both Lopez and Lavery followed up with the patient and did everything they could to make sure she had what she needed for a more enjoyable recovery.

“Employees like Selso and Brittany are exceptional,” said the patient. “I’m glad to see the hospital hiring such competent and caring individuals.”
