Christine Mullen, MS, CCC-SLP
Christine is a certified speech-language pathologist who works with both
adult and pediatric populations. A proud "Double Duke," she
earned her bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with
a minor in Exceptional Education, and her master's degree in Speech-Language
Pathology, both from James Madison University. In her professional role,
Christine evaluates and treats adults with dysphagia, cognitive-communication
disorders, and language impairments in the acute hospital setting, and
performs outpatient modified barium swallow studies in collaboration with
radiology. She also provides outpatient speech therapy for children with
a range of diagnoses, including autism, Down syndrome, speech sound disorders,
childhood apraxia of speech, and language delays. Originally from a small
farm in rural Virginia, she was drawn to the San Luis Valley during a
graduate school rotation at SLVH, where the community's rural charm, diverse
patient population, and access to the outdoors reminded her of home. Outside
of work, Christine enjoys mountain biking, rock climbing, skiing, camping,
hiking, and adventuring with her dog, Piper.
