Pelvic Health Physical Therapy

Pelvic Health Physical Therapists specialize in the treatment of conditions that affect the low back, pelvic floor, and hips.

This can include:

  • Incontinence
  • Pelvic Pain
  • Painful Sex
  • Pregnancy Induced Pain
  • Hip Pain
  • Tailbone Pain
  • Overactive Bladder
  • Diastasis Recti Abdominis

All treatments are performed in a private room. You and your therapist will develop an individual treatment plan which will include a home exercise program. Discuss any questions and concerns you have with your physician. Communication between your physician and your therapist is an essential and integral part of your recovery.

What Happens at Physical Therapy?

You and your physical therapist will discuss your diagnosis. The PT will perform an evaluation which will include:

  • Alignment
  • Strength
  • Muscle tone
  • Range of motion

If appropriate, your PT will perform an internal evaluation of your pelvic floor

What should I wear?

Comfortable workout clothes, sports bra

Do I have to have an internal evaluation?

Not necessarily, you and your therapist will discuss this.

How long will the appointments be?

The evaluation will be 1-1 ½ hours

Treatment sessions are approximately 1 hour

Can I have therapy while on my period?

Yes

Will I have to do exercises?

Depending on your PT’s findings, you will be given an individual home exercise program.

How does it work?
